Craft Mad Card Swaps - September

As mentioned in my previous post, I was LATE with my card swap for my partner for September ...  I struggled with motivation

The theme for September was 1 card using a 'Sketch' and 1 card using TIC-TAC-TOE

Card #1 - sketch

I received a lovely Scrap Boys 'Christmas Day' paper pad from my Secret Santa last year, so that formed the basis of my choices for this swap.

I chose three different papers and cut the tags by hand.  A large snowflake was die cut from silver mirror card.  Sentiment & little holly leaves were stamped & clear heat embossed.  The leaves and berries were hand coloured with Copics and die cut.  Sentiment was die cut using the centre circle of the snowflake.

Card was assembled according to sketch, using 3D foam tabs for added dimension.

Card #2 - Tic Tac Toe - Patterned Paper, Die Cut, Embossing

Selecting another page from the 'Christmas Day' paper pad, I layered it onto red leathergrain cardstock using the Waffle Flower A6 layers die, and then layered that onto the white cardbase.

Hero Arts 'Merry' Stamp & Cut - 'Merry' was die cut twice out of the red cardstock and layered to add dimension, with the other sentiments stamped in black.  Stars were stamped in red & embossed, but they don't show up very well in the photo.

And in answer to your question ......... yes, I was humming the song all the time I was making the card!

A very big thank you to my partner for being patient with me!

Linking Card #2 with the following Challenges:

Sparkles Christmas Challenge #165 - use the word 'Christmas'
Cut it Up Challenge #314 - inspired by a song

Also included, was another one of the cards I made previously especially for my swapping partners - see my post in June on how they were made

PS:  Cardstock was purchased from BlueEdge Crafts  (no affiliation arrangements with this store, I just want to let fellow Aussies know of a good store :) )

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.

Noel

I have a new card to share today.

A little while back, I left a comment on Christina Griffiths' Blog and I won a prize - it was a Die Cutting Essentials magazine, which included a free die set.

It took a little while to get here .... all the way from the U.K. and this weekend I have had time to have a quick play.

Inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #577, I used the snowflake & Noel from this free set and combined it with a Spellbinders Snowflake I already had. I die cut everything from silver holographic card & layered with black card to add dimension.  A strip was cut from black leathergrain cardstock scaps.  I thought the plain white background was a bit too plain, so I used some black, grey & silver inks to do some paint splatters, with a final touch of teeny tiny stars for some bling.

A Christmas Card fits in with the Happy Little Stampers AG Christmas Challenge , and the Christmas Crafts All year Round March Challenge of '3 red hens' or 3 of anything dictated the number of snowflakes .... all in all, the card came together relatively quickly.

The 52 Christmas Card Throwdown March Challenge of Black & Silver inspired my choice of colours, but sadly, I was too late to link my card up  (I will leave the link anyway - go visit and check it out)

Thank you again, Christina, I love visiting your blog and seeing your work.  I think I will enjoy playing some more with this die set.

Deck the Halls .....

with boughs of holly, fa la la la la .......

Another Christmas Card, surprise, surprise!  :)

I ordered a stamp & die set (more of that to come later) from Uniquely Creative, an online craft store right here in Adelaide!  I like to support local where I can. There was a stencil included as a 'thank you' so I just HAD to have a play.

I grabbed a couple of inks and daubers and placed the stencil on the left hand side of a card topper.  I quickly realised that my daubers were way too big, so I settled on a 'rustic' finish.  To cover up an 'oopsy' I inked up the edges of the topper with both the brown & the red  Cardtopper is 210gsm, layered onto 250gsm cardbase (White) from Blue Edge Crafts, another local Adelaide online craft store.

The large snowflake was diecut from silver foiled cardstock, the centre circle was cut then the sentiment was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx & clear heat embossed.  The snowflake was mounted to the card topper, with the sentiment raised on 3D foam.  Additional holly was stamped, heat embossed and coloured in, then mounted onto circle.

I am normally a 'gold' person, but I quite like the silver snowflake on this card!  The other colours used were inspired by the Card Concept challenge

Let it Snow

Cut It Up - Guest Designer Spot #2 - Snowmen - February 25

Here is a card for my 2nd Guest Designer Spot for Cut It Up.  This particular challenge is sponsored by OddballArtCo and I have used Silly Chilly Stan #138 for my card.

I resized Silly Chilly Stan to fit on a DL size cardstock and printed with a Laser printer and hand coloured in the scarf & nose with watercolour pencils.  The sky/snow was sponged using a mixture of a few different 'blues'.

Lawn Fawn 'Let it Snow' sentiment from Magic Holiday stamped with StazOn Ganache and die cut with the inner circle of the large snowflake from the Magic Iris Snowflake Add On.  The Snowflake was die cut from some 'textured handmade paper' I have had in my stash for as long as I can remember .... just waiting for the perfect opportunity.

The sky looked a little bare, so I stamped some extra snowflakes with Stampin Up 'Snow Swirled' with 'Not Quite Navy' and added a touch of Kindy Glitz.  I also used Kindy Glitz at the bottom of the card to indicate snow on the ground - I am not entirely sure that idea was successful, but I can live with it.

I would like to link this card with a few challenges:

Happy Little Stampers' current challenge is Snowflakes, and whilst this card may be 'borderline' CAS, I will link it with Addicted to CAS anyway :)  and, the Peace on Earth Christmas challenge provided this really great picture for inspiration

The snowman and all the snow caught my attention :)  Living in Adelaide, we rarely get any snow, so I often dream of what a White Christmas would look like!

I am really quite pleased with how this card turned out and will be added to my 2022 Christmas Card Stash!

Thank you to Evelyn from the Cut It Up Challenge for asking me to be a Guest Designer, I really enjoyed myself!

This challenge closes Friday, 4th January 2013 and Winners will be announced Monday, 7th January 2013 - Remember we are working on Aussie Time.

I have been most disorganised this month in relation to my cardmaking - I confess I haven't even started my Christmas cards for this year - but I am hoping to make headway this week (hubby goes back to work and I can get down to some serious crafting ;-))

Now for my DT cards - I confess, these are not new cards - they are put forward as inspiration for not using stamps on Christmas Cards - I wish to highlight punches and die-cuts this month ;-)
Square Red cardstock as a base, layered with Gold Shimmer cardstock cut out with Cuttlebug and Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Pendant, holly leaves punched out from two different shades of green, snowflakes punched out from white pearl paper and glued in a circle, clear and red gemstones added for some 'bling', gold peel-off stickers added to corners.

This is not my design, I was inspired by
Hunnybunny cards  many years ago ;-)

All items used in this card, except the punches, are from BlueEdge Crafts.

Please visit the UnstampaBelles blog and see last month's entries and check out the winner.
There are some amazing entries and I know I say it every month, but it really is getting very hard for the DT to pick a favourite!

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.
