Happy Birthday Liam!

Another family birthday, this one for the Nephew, Liam.

I made the card using his favourite football team colours - Port Adelaide (Black, White & Teal)

I have wanted to try the 'split circle' technique for quite some time and I figure now was a good time to try.

I made a background using Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder and splattered with Distress Inks, then cut the cardfront with Waffle Flower A6 layers die.  I diecut several different size Spellbinders circles from offcuts of black, white & teal cardstock and set out having a play.  I discovered that cutting a circle in half is not as easy as it sounds  LOL but I managed.

Circles were cut, glued together then arranged accordingly, but I made a mess with the ink somehow, hence the 'extra' bit to the left of the 'Happy Birthday' to cover up a blob.  Happy Birthday sentiment is from Stampin' Up, Voila! stamped onto another circle, then positioned accordingly.

Birthday balloons were cut from teal and placed on the cardfront. (unknown brand, bought at an Op Shop)

Cardfront was then attached to a 300gsm white card base.

I was not completely happy with the card, but time was against me.  I think I will have another play with these split circles at some stage in the future and see what I can come up with.

Happy Birthday

I created a fun shaker card for the niece's birthday.

First up I made up a handmade background - with inking/smooshing and blotting - I think it has become my favourite technique this year - such a versatile technique being able to chose particular colours; some of which were chosen from the Just Add Ink #625 Inspiration Photo.

I then used one of my big balloon dies and cut out from the card front & the front layer of the card base.
Acetate was placed on the front, added 3d foam around the aperture and placed some gems and sprinkles in the well of the shaker section.  I added acetate to the back of the card front and placed over the top of the card base.

Sentiment 'happy birthday' stamped & die cut 3 times then layered together before being placed over the balloon.  A nice gold ribbon to add the final touch.

I forgot that the verse would show through the card, so I added a verse on the back :)

I am having a lot of fun with figuring out the best way to make shaker cards .... some ways are more successful than others.

Birthday Wishes with Balloons

I have another birthday card to share today.

I have used Natasha's 'split down the middle' technique to make a birthday card for a male friend.

A very simple technique, which produces a nice clean & simple card,
and the bonus is that it is a '2 for 1' deal, you get to make a 2nd card with the other halves!

Happy Birthday x 2

Two more cards for you today :)

Our oldest, dearest and closest friends celebrate birthdays close together, just like my hubby and myself!

Chris' birthday was on 26th January and his wife, Cathy (yes same as me) her birthday is on 4th February.  Our birthdays are September & October, and we have similar food tastes!

We had a lovely catchup last Friday, wherein we sat around the table eating, drinking (only a little) and solving the problems with the world ...... as you do!

Anyway, here are the cards I made for them.  I'll start with the birthday card for Chris.

For a change, I went with a DL size card, in portrait mode.  I have been having a lot of fun with a new way of making my own backgrounds lately, so I used this lovely green & gold combination.  Inks 'smooshed' onto a surface, spayed with water, then place the cardstock over the inks.  The edges were inked with Dark Green to define the outer edge.  'happy birthday' sentiment stamped in Black Staz On and die cut layered with 3 layers to give it substance.  Balloon die cut from a scrap piece of Holographic foil cardstock, all mounted on a DL size card.  Die Cuts layered with 3D foam.  The string on the balloon was hand drawn with black fineliner.

Over all, I was quite pleased with the card and Chris loved it!

Now, onto the card for the Birthday Girl (which was the main reason for our get together).  Cathy is celebrating a 'big one' ....... 60!

I stuck with the DL size card in portrait mode, and used another handmade background.  For the balloons I created some text in Word, prnted on purple cardstock (Cathy's favourite colour) and foiled with gold, then die cut the balloons and actually tied up the balloons with black cotton.  Balloons placed in staggered layers, then Penny Black Hedgehog from 'Party Time' stamped and hand coloured in with Copics, cut out and positioned with 3D foam.  Little butterfly with a present stamped directly onto the front, hand coloured with Copics & Kindy Glitz added.  A final bit of bling added with some sequins.

I am quite pleased with the foiling and the bonus is that Cathy loved the card!

I am linking the above cards with the following Challenges:

Happy Birthday Liam!

the nephew is turning 19 today ............... where did that year go!

I have been just waiting for the opportunity to use the Kaisercraft 'happy birthday' stamps - nice big letters!
Sentiment was heat embossed with gold, and I love the idea of a shaker card, so I used one of my balloon dies, and filled with sequins & stars.

Nice and simple, not too girly! but has the obligatory 'CrafteeCC bling' style!

A happy occasion .....

My friend Joy needed a wedding card for her partner's niece, and she asked me if I could make one for her.

Happy Birthday to my Sister, Barbara

It will be my sister's 60th Birthday on 29th November 2016

I wanted to make a really special card for her, so I started searching for inspiration during October.  My search was fruitless :(  each day I was getting more and more frustrated that 'the perfect card' was not jumping up at me.

I have been admiring the 'card in a box' cards for quite some time and thought it was about time I bit the bullet and tried something completely new.

So with the help of Mr Google & Mrs YouTube, I settled on a basic design.  Once I got the construction of the box done, it was time to embellish :)  I had chosen a basic theme of balloons and just gathered everything I had to do with balloons - finally getting to use a Lili of the Valley stamp I purchased in January 2014

It was a lot of fun pulling this together, even though it took several days.

I had the puffy balloon stickers from the $2 shop for ages, and I can't remember when I actually purchased the purple letters, but I would have had my sister in mind as purple is her favourite colour.

Lots of very old things from my stash were used for this card - as mentioned earlier, the Lili of the Valley Stamp was bought in 2014, the balloon punch was one of the first punches I bought when I first started cardmaking back in 2005, the ever faithful purple bazzill cardstock has been around for at least 10 years - I think it is my last sheet of purple!

And ofcourse, the obligatory Kindy Glitz

white cardstock and gold stickers were from BlueEdge Crafts/Sticker Store
