More time to craft - YAY!

Hi everyone

I just love it when the cricket is on!  Hubby is happy to watch cricket and that leaves me free to craft!

I have just got some new spellbinder dies and had to have a play!

Tilda was hand coloured with watercolour pencils, kindy glitz & bling added.

This is also my first attempt at distressing the edges of background paper - I think I could have done a bit more ;-)

This card fits several challenges:
CuteDaisyMay - Red Christmas
Creatalicious Challenges - Christmas with sparkles & snowflakes
Charisma Cardz Challenge - christmas (I used the previous week's sketch too!)
Magnolia Down Under - magnolia christmas

I have also been working on a card to give to my niece & her new fiance.  The official engagement party is this weekend.  I have already given them their engagement card see here and since they want to buy some new furniture, I thought it would be good to use this 'money in the couch' card.  I have been just waiting for an opportunity to use this idea on a card.  I originally came across it here and here - thanks for the inspiration!

I did not use the same stamp they mention - I have used an image I already had.

I made a few modifications to the card to cater for the larger Australian $100 note.  I think I am happy with it???

Finally got some time to do some craftin'

We had a very quiet weekend and I finally got some time to get some crafting done!  YAY

This card is for two challenges:  Sketch Saturday #76 and Bizzy Bec's Creatalicious Challenge #3

The DP has been in my stash since I first started cardmaking and I only have a few pieces of it left now, the flowers are handmade (a bit of a stretch I know ;-) ) and the navy cardstock is new.

As usual, the image has been coloured in using watercolour pencils and highlighted with kindy glitz!

The next card is for the Magnolia Down Under #26 sketch challenge

Magnolia image is hand coloured with watercolour pencils and highlighted with kindy glitz, Felt flowers form the border (another cardmaking element that has been in my stash for such a long time) and handmade flowers attached to corner.

It was nice to spend some time in my craft room this weekend.

We have a week of extremely hot weather forecast this week - up to 39 Degrees Celsius - I am not looking forward to catching the bus home on those days, let me tell you!

My Blogoversary - thanks!

I must thank the lovely people who have left comments on my blog, wishing me Happy Blogoversary!

I have looked back to when I did create my blog, as I didn't think it was that long ago ........... and it wasn't!!

Here in Australia, we usually have the date format as Day, Month, Year, but I forgot to allow for that when inputting my date to calculate my anniversary - it was the 11th February, not 2nd November - so I still have a little while to go before my REAL Blogoversary, but it is so nice to know the someone else is watching too!

All work and no play ......

All work and no play makes Cathy very sad  LOL

As some of you may know, I have been 'taking a career break' for the last 12 months and have been enjoying my time at home being a 'lady of leisure'.

Well, since 15th October, I have been on a temp assignment - full time hours!!  what a shock to the system that was  LOL

I am enjoying the work - it is nice to be out and about with people and ofcourse, to be earning some money.

I have not had much time for crafting or blogging, but wanted to show you something I have done recently.

A few months back, my SIL RosaLia asked if I could make a little something for Liam.  His Respiratory Group at the Adelaide Women's and Children's Hospital wanted to make a quilt to hang up in foyer.  Liam picked the subject matter - it had to include a rocket.  ;-)

Above photo is the raw quilt square - rocket has been hand cut and appliqued with sewing machine.  Stars, moon and Letters are sticky foam.

here is a photo of it all sewn up and on the wall.

the following two photos give you an idea just how big this quilt is - There are some amazing squares that have an awful lot of work in them.

I was so proud to be part of this project and hope to get to see it in real life one day.
