Bon Voyage Sharon - have a wonderful adventure!

My SIL is going away to do some volunteer work for six months and we had a farewell party for family & close friends last night.
It was a late night (well, for us anyway) we got home at about 1:00 AM and a good time was had by all.
This is a side-step card - I used a square card as the base and had to experiment a bit with the side steps, as the steps I wanted, were not the same measurements in the side-step card I was using as a template.
The large frangipani image is Stamp-it and the smaller frangipani is Kaiserstamp.
Both images have been coloured in using Copics.  The frangipani vellum background has been in my stash for as long as I can remember ;-)

I even gave the inside some treatment.

SIL loved the card and confessed to being a little nervous, but was excited as well.

WOYWW - I remembered this time!

Hi everyone

I have been watching the WOYWW (Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday) for a little while now and have often been amazed at some of the things I have seen ;-)

They range from very messy to very tidy - the one thing they all have in common is that they provide me with inspiration ..... inspiration to have a tidy up ;-) or something I may see in the background may give me inspiration to manage my stash ;-)

Anyway, here are two pics from my desk - each taken about two weeks apart

The above photo was taken in the middle of a 'design' session to make two cards using the same layout, but different colours and stamp images.  I was also experimenting with Copics - at the time, I was almost ready to throw them out the window, but I think I will keep experimenting with them a bit longer ;-)

Here we are two weeks later, making a card for my SIL (on left) - once again experimenting, but with a new style of card called a sidestep card.  I also made a rough card for my nephew's 14th birthday - this one was the very first sidestep card I tried, but got the measurments the wrong way round, but as you all know, there is no such thing as a mistake on a card ........  only a variation on a theme ;-)
Now that I have mastered the sidestep card, I can participate in the CraftMad March swap - it has to be sent to my partner by end of the month - nothing like leaving it till the last minute - hang in there Beth, it will be on it's way soon   ;-)

High School Friends catch up - PAGTHS

I don't normally post anything too personal here, but I thought I would post this pic of some of my high school friends (1974-1978) from Port Adelaide Girls Technical High School.

In 2008, I was on the committee to organise a whole of school reunion.  The school was operational from 1925 through to 1995.  The reunion was a complete success, with over 700 people attending.  I have so many wonderful photos and memories from that day ;-)

Since then, a small group of us have met up every few months and we have a lunch out somewhere.  It is usually a whole lot of laughs, a whole lot of reminiscing and a good time is had by all.

This particular photo was taken by Linda - I can't believe I forgot my camera - I will remember next time.

From left to right:  Maureen, Christine, Jill, Rosana, Karen, Julia, Penny, Alison, Linda, Cathy (me)

We had a lovely meal at The Brompton Hotel - the food was nice, but a little expensive for the serving size.  I had the Salt & Pepper Squid at $23.00 and I had to ask if it was the main meal size, not the entree :-)  should have gone for the chicken burger or schnitzel parmy ;-)   Will know better next time.

HERE is my older post with a photo of our group at the 2008 reunion.

If any of you out there are pondering about catching up with old friends from high school .......... do it, even though you may not have been 'bestest friends' back then, I am sure you will find you all have something in common now and will have a lot of fun sharing some old stories.  Who knows, you may even find something out that you didin't realise back then ;-)

Penny Black Challenge #91 & OCC#5

I have been having some more fun with copics!

The current PennyBlack  challenge is to make an easel card.  I have been wanting to try one of these cards for ages ;-)  I don't know why it took me so long to make one, but now that I have, I think I will make up some more!

silver panels cut and embossed with cuttlebug using textile texture plate

Image has been coloured with copics and highlighted with kindy glitz.
Larger circle cut with craftROBO as I didn't have a nestie big enough ;-)

Layout is from OCC#5

This card is also submitted for the following challenges:
StampSomething - girly
creativecardcrew - celebration
liliofthevalleythursdaychallenge - easel card
SimonSaysStamps - girly

Penny Black Challenge #90

As mentioned in my previous post, I wanted to make a card using the sketch for the  PennyBlack challenge - and here it is!
Penny Black image has been coloured in with copics - I think I am getting the hang of them now ;-)
Of course, the obligatory bling has been added ;-)

I still have copics and am still in a pink mood ;-)

I have been playing some more with the copics and I think I am getting used to them  ;-)

My creative mojo has returned and I have made a birthday card for a good friend.

I have submitted this card for the following challenges:

ForeverFriends - photo inspiration (pink, black, grey)
OneStop - Optimistically Pink (again)

My girlfriend loves bling - maybe that is why we get on so well ;-)

Forever Friends image has been coloured with copics, and highlighted with bling.

The sketch is from PennyBlack however, I can't submit this card for this challenge as it does not have a Penny Black image - but stay tuned, I am doing another card with a PB image ;-)

I am so pleased with how this card turned out!

I have been visiting some copic tutorial sites, and looked at some videos on U-Tube and will continue experimenting for a while.  I am even keeping a lookout for copics on special!

Spellbinder deckle edge dies have been used in the Cuttlebug.  Tiny bling added to flowers and big pink bling have been used as major highlights.  Card has been layered using 3D mounting tape.

Cardstock used:  Square silver card, bazzil bling

DP from my stash.

I have even given the inside some treatment.

I hope my girlfriend likes this card.
