My Favourite Cards of 2010

I have seen a few people post their favourite cards for 2010, and thought I would participate as well.

These cards are my faves because of the people they were for, as well as the actual card itself ;-)

I was really pleased with the whole concept of the card for our friend's 50th birthday.

Tuesday Treasures

Over HERE Melody is hosting Tuesday Treasures.

This week Melody has showcased a beautiful clock - such a pretty thing ;-)

My treasure is a Sarah Kay mirror picture given to me by my sister for my 16th Birthday in 1976.

It is in my craft room and I get to see it every day.
In January this year, I discoverd a range of Sarah Kay stamps.  I am hoping to increase my collection real soon ;-)

I have copics !!!!!

and I must confess, after having a play, I am not too sure they are for me  ;-(

The work differently than watercolours, or painting with a brush using inks, don't they .......

This is the first image I tried to colour in.  Sarah Kay was stamped with Stazon and coloured with copics.  I realised straight away that Stazon is not a good medium to use copics with.

The next thing I realised is that in order for me to get the delicate shading I am used to, I will need to buy more copics.  I understand it is recommended to get a light, medium and dark in each of your preferred colours.  ............. mmmmmm  $$$$$

I tried using the blender to soften various bits, but realised that my cardstock was not suitable for this type of colouring either.

mmmmm, not having a very good experience for a first attempt.

Next I tried stamping with Versamagic, Midnight black with clear heat embossing.  This worked better, but I noticed the heat embossing went a bit dull. 

Once again, I couldn't get the gradient of dark to light the way I wanted it without damaging the cardstock using the blender.

The embossing came back to shiny again, once I reheated it ;-)

This one is a bit more successful, but once again, I am going to need many more copics to get the same effect as my watercolour pencils/inks.

Here they are, side by side, and don't look too bad in the photo, but in real life, I am quite disappointed with them.

The iris image with the heat embossing has turned out the best.  I will have a bit more of a play during the week when it is nice and quiet at home, but me thinks they may be appearing on ebay some time in the near future.

Another one of our dearest friends is celebrating a birthday!

Vintage lacey ribbon and new satin bow added.

Yellow chicks coloured in with yellow tombow marker - nice & bright.

I am so pleased with how this card worked out and am looking forward to give to her in person later this afternoon.

Bizzy Becs Creatalicious Challenge #5 and Allsorts Challenge #34 and ABC and CCT

I have finally been able to do some crafting in my new room - it is such a pleasure having everything in the one spot!

The new is my newest Sarah Kay stamp and the old, well it is also Sarah Kay ;-) 

Sarah Kay has been in my life for more years than I care to remember!   The following picture is the invitation I used for my 16th Birthday way back in 1976. 

The eagle eyed of you may have noticed the mirror on the wall in the pics of my new room that have been posted previously - it was a present from my sister for my 16th birthday.

This digistamp was a freebie and was a pleasure to use.  I will definitely be going back to have a proper look at their other stamps.

The Red on the ladybugs has been heat embossed using red ink & clear embossing, but it does not show up very well ;-(

Creatalicious Challenge #2 - pink or plum, with burgundy & green

Challenge No. 2 over on CreataliciousChallenges is to make a creation with this colour combo pink or plum,with burgundy and green.  Also add some sort of lace, ribbon or fibre etc.   Looking back over some older posts, these colours are definitely my 'go to' colours ;-)

So here is my card - background paper came from 6x6 pack that I won for 4th place in last month's challenge  ;-)  The burgundy ribbon down the centre of the card is one that has been in my stash for a long time - in fact it is the ribbon used on my bridesmaids car when we got married in 1982!

Here is a card I made with the third stamp I purchased from BizzyBecs store

I just fell in love with this Sarah Kay image - it reminds me of the images I used for party invitations during the late 70's early 80's - I guess that officially makes me old!

I used several techniques to colour in. Some of the shading has been achieved by touching the brush to the actual pencil. Thanks Cheryl, that was a great tip!

I am really pleased with the way this image came together, so decided on a very simple layout for the card - I did not want to detract from the image.

This is a rare one for me! only a little bit of bling, and no Kindy Glitz! LOL
