Hope your birthday is a hit!

It's time for some more birthday cards.  Making cards for friends & family always makes me happy!

Inspired by some of the Challenge Blogs, I have made a few birthday cards.

The 'records' were die cut from black cardstock twice, metallic cardstock for the lables, layered together and attached to the cardfront with foam dots.  The black cardstock is some left over 'snippets' from a heat embossing experiment that did not work - I kept it as I figured I could always use the other side ..... waste not, want not!

Die Cut musical elements cut from other 'left over' snippets added to front of records.  Sentiment was stamped using Versa Fine Black Onyx and die cut with a 'tag' die and attached to the cardfront with foam dots.

The layout of my card was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketch #620

I made my own background by stamping a musical notes stamp several times with Versamark and heat embossing with clear powder.  I then ink blended with some blue inks, leaving a lighter centre area and darker around the edges.

The above cards have been inspired by the same sketch layout  - the first one being a VERY CAS card, the second card with a bit 'more' added.   I struggle with CAS cards, I can't help but feel they are 'incomplete'  LOL

Happy Birthday

Happy New Year to you all!

Time for some NEW Birthday Cards.

I made my own background by lightly ink blending a few colours and stamping some musical notes several times in Black ink, which was then trimmed to size.  I have had the musical notes stamp for quite a few years, but this is the first time I have used it.

I die cut 'happy birthday' words & shadows from alternating black & white layers - layering the black shadow twice to add more dimension.

Background was attached to the 300 gsm card base using double sided 'jac' paper, then the sentiment was mounted with 3D foam.

I am quite happy with the way the card turned out, as this is a new technique for me.

--oooo0oooo--

For the Card #2, I made my own background by ink blending a few different blues, spritzing with water and letting dry.  The I randomly stamped the cake from Stampin Up Voila in Versamark, then heat embossing.  It is amazing the difference a new stamp pad makes!  Now I just need to keep a look out for the refill bottles and not let the stamp pad dry out :)

I die cut 'happy birthday' words & shadows from alternating black & white layers - this time using the black words on a white shadow.

Background was attached to the 300 gsm card base, and the sentiment was mounted 3D foam.

I quite enjoyed my first 'real' crafting session for 2024, and I hope to spend more time in the craft room...... how about you?...... what are you hoping to do in 2024?

Happy Birthday Peter

Another birthday card, for nephew, Peter.   I had a bit of fun with this image from PNG Mart, as the nephew is into music

I first printed the image in colour, then foiled some parts of it

then added a birthday sentiment from Clipart Fairy which was also foiled.

Cardfront was trimmed, then mounted onto black cardstock, black corner stickers added, kindy glitz added to the 'microphone'

All in all, a fun card for a guy!

You are not old, You are a classic!

I think this year is going to year of Milestone birthdays for a large portion of my friends .... me included!  LOL

My friend Karen, from high school celebrated her 60th birthday in a big way, with family and friends.  Sadly, I missed out on the party, as I came down with a terrible head cold and decided to keep my germs to myself LOL

Anyway, here is the card I made for her - of course using her favourite colour .... purple!

The Cut it Up challenge is to use your favourite colour (and a die) - one of my fave colours to feature on my cards has to be Gold!

The Sunday Stamps challenge is to pick 3 colours from the graphic below
I used purple, gold, black & green :)

Happy 14th Birthday Peter!

Today is my nephew's 14th Birthday - where did the time go?

I have been working on this card for about three weeks now - working on the idea, getting the image just right, then making a GSD file to cut on the CraftROBO.

I was inspired by this card over on SCS, but as I didn't have that particular template, I had to make my own.  My card is not as jazzy as the electric one ;-), but mine is a more sedate accoustic guitar, as this is what Peter is learning just now.  Who knows what will be next - his parent's have objected to drums ;-)

Finally, my card has come together and I am happy with it - I think!  Now that I see the photos, I could have smoothed the edges a bit better!

Strings have been added with sewing thread.

The gold circle is actually from a sticker sheet with sailing boats on it ;-)

The inside has received some treatment - unfortunately, I know nothing about music, so I am not sure what sequence of notes I have determined here in the placement of the gold stickers ;-)

Here is the back!

We are off to have a combined Birthday/Easter celebration BBQ later this afternoon - the weather this weekend has been perfect!

We get an extra hour today ;-)  We have finally finished our Daylight Saving Time here in Adelaide - YAY!

Forever Friends Sketch Challenge

I am a bit late, but here is a card inspired by forever_friends_sketch challenge.
I needed a card for a dear friend in USA - I didn't want to make it too girly ;-) We have been corresponding via snail mail since 1993. He is a lovely man - we worked for the same Insurance company - me in Adelaide and him in New York. When he was on holidays in Australia in 1993, he walked into the Adelaide office and introduced himself. Since I was on reception at the time, I was the lucky person who went for a cup of coffee with him later. We met again a few years later when he was back in Adelaide and have been corresponding ever since.
I don't write him as often as I should - correspondence is limited to a yearly letter and birthday card now. He has continued to write letters to me at least 3 or 4 times a year, sadly it is me letting the side down ;-(
White square cardstock, layered with DP and highlighted with black cardstock. Forever Friends image coloured in with watercolours.

When I finished the card, I though the image looked lost, so I added black corner stickers - I think it brings the attention back to the bear! What do you think?

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #26 - shape it

This week over on Cuttlebug_Spot_Challenge the challenge is to make a card that is not a square or rectangle. Should be easy right? ....
this one was a challenge for me - but once I hit on an idea, it came together fine.
Influenced by a metronome, I made a card for a musically minded person.
Cardstock was run through cuttlebug using swiss dots & allegro, then sanded to reveal inner core. Gold sticker guitar placed on acetate, then cut out and raised with sticky dots, other musical notes placed at random over card.
