Thanks, To Someone Special

More time in the craftroom saw me playing with a new to me card style - a 'Fun Fold Tower Pinwheel card'.

Card#1
This card was part of the February swap for Craft Mad Swappers - and once again, I was so very late in making my card, and sending it.

I really struggled with the design aspect of this card - ultimately working out 4 'cardfronts'  LOL
Altenew stamps stamped & heat embossed, watercoloured in with inks and cut with matching dies, Sentiment 'thanks' diecut in black, with the shadow in white, and attached to 'front' with foam tape.

Inside section to write a personal greeting.  Altenew stamped inside the card.
Once a 'design' came to mind, then it was just a matter of 'fudging' the dimensions.  Kaisercraft Butterflies stamped on another panel on the inside.
More Kaisercraft Butterflies stamped on another panel on the inside.  I can't say it was my finest work, but I am glad I took the challenge and didn't let it defeat me.  Although I can say that the 'Fun Fold Tower Pinwheel Card' was most definitely NOT FUN and will not be on my 'to do list' again!

Card#2
The next swap card, was quite easy - we had to use something from our Secret Santa present.  I chose the gorgeous sequins & sprinkles to make a shaker card.

Penny Black hedgehog from 'Party Time' stamped and coloured in with Copics.  Balloon diecut positioned and cut out to make the shaker part. Finished off with a cute little bow that has been in my stash for a very long time!

And of course, the 'Thank You' card I make for all my swap partners - the die cut of the die cutting machine is actually on the inside of the card :)

I Love You

It's that time of year again :)

Our 43rd Wedding Anniversary on 13th February and tomorrow is Valentines Day.

I designed the card in Word for the layout - Text sentiment & an hourglass image from pngWing - which was printed onto gloss cardstock with a laser printer.

I then foiled the 'I love you' in RED, and the hourglass and the remaining text in GOLD.

I glued down some 'GORGEOUS' sprinkles I received in my Secret Santa Swap for CraftMad Swappers as the 'sands of time' - the little hearts are just perfect!  As soon as I saw them, I knew I was going to incorporate them into a card.  The white cardfront was then attached to a Kraft cardbase with foam tape.

The Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge this time round is 'clean and simple' and the Allsorts Challenge calls for romance or music.

The challenge over on Inkspiration is in collaboration with Color Hues Challenge using pink & red.  Now, I never thought that I would make a card for Mr Fixit using 'pink & red' ... but I think the subtle pink & red tones work!   The red foil 'I Love You' and the light pink & dark pink hearts in the sprinkles adds just enough colour to an otherwise 'all gold' card.

My Time to Craft asks us to use a theme of  'hearts'.

Now, this is where I get honest, the above card is the second version, you see, I had great plans to turn this into a shaker card.

In the first version, I cut the inside of the hourglass away, added 3d foam tabs behind to make a pocket, then added the 'sprinkles', then attached it to the cardbase.   You guessed, it ..... I forgot to add the acetate!  DOH!   I had sprinkles everywhere!

So then I peeled off the foam, attached the acetate, then added back the foam and the sprinkles and attached it to a white base ... but it was a bit crooked and there was a misalignment; you could see the hourglass printed underneath .... and I mangled up the edges of the foil when I cut the aperture out... AND I spied a rogue triangle piece in the shaker area..... at that point I decided to do the card again and produced the card you see above.

Here is the first version of the card .... complete with crooked placement and the rogue 'triangle' piece in the shaker area.

I showed Mr Fixit the first version .......... he did say he liked the idea of the 'shaker card' and wouldn't have noticed the rough edges, nor the misalignment, nor the rogue triangle .....

Happy Birthday

I created a fun shaker card for the niece's birthday.

First up I made up a handmade background - with inking/smooshing and blotting - I think it has become my favourite technique this year - such a versatile technique being able to chose particular colours; some of which were chosen from the Just Add Ink #625 Inspiration Photo.

I then used one of my big balloon dies and cut out from the card front & the front layer of the card base.
Acetate was placed on the front, added 3d foam around the aperture and placed some gems and sprinkles in the well of the shaker section.  I added acetate to the back of the card front and placed over the top of the card base.

Sentiment 'happy birthday' stamped & die cut 3 times then layered together before being placed over the balloon.  A nice gold ribbon to add the final touch.

I forgot that the verse would show through the card, so I added a verse on the back :)

I am having a lot of fun with figuring out the best way to make shaker cards .... some ways are more successful than others.

Happy Birthday Shaker

Slowly getting my cardmaking mojo back again :)

I started making a birthday card for my nephew, but I think this one turned out a bit girly, so it will go in my stash.

I used up another one of my handmade backgrounds .... ink smooshed & dabbed with water.  The cardstock has a texture to it, so it made for an interesting result.

Spellbinders Circle die used to cut out centre, clear acetate placed behind opening.  Various sequins & scatters added.  I love the cheeky smiley face!

Happy Birthday sentiment stamped with Distress Ink, Mowed Lawn & die cut 3 times, then layered and placed over aperture.

Happy Birthday Liam!

the nephew is turning 19 today ............... where did that year go!

I have been just waiting for the opportunity to use the Kaisercraft 'happy birthday' stamps - nice big letters!
Sentiment was heat embossed with gold, and I love the idea of a shaker card, so I used one of my balloon dies, and filled with sequins & stars.

Nice and simple, not too girly! but has the obligatory 'CrafteeCC bling' style!
