Blog Awards - with sincere apologies for the givers

I received this award back in February, and posted a reply.

I have just noticed that this post had reverted to a draft - **sad face**
so here it is, with apologies to those that tried to find this post back then

I have received this lovely award from Kaye - thank you so much.
In accepting, I understand there are a few little rules...

1) You have been tagged, do you want to accept?
YES! then create a post on your blog and post the love blog photo.

2) Link back to the person who gave you the award and say if you accept.
3) Choose 3-5 of your favourite blogs to tag, link these in your post too and tell the lucky people they have been tagged.

The aim of this award is to bring unknown good blogs to light, therefore, please don't tag somebody with 3000 followers.

Thank you so much Kaye, for thinking of me.

I must confess to having mixed feelings about the various awards that are floating around in blogland, but since the intention of this award is to acknowledge the 'smaller' blogs, I am very happy to receive this one and to pass it on ;-)

I would really like to pass this on to ALL of the blogs I follow - Cardmaking and Quilting - but for the purpose of this exercise I have limited my selection to those who have less than 100 followers.

I would like to pass this award on to the following people:

Merry & Kaye - this award is given right back to you ;-)
Annmaree - I would also like to give this award to you (even though you are over 100 followers ;-) )

To say thank you for your wonderful support and hope that your blogs grow up 'big and strong' and may you have many followers sharing lots of liebster ;-)

If any of you do not wish to accept this award, thats OK too ;-)

I have received this award from the lovely Anorina of Samelia's Mum

Thank you so much, it is an honour to be picked.

Part of the terms and conditions of receiving this award include sharing seven facts about myself, that you would otherwise not have known. Are you ready to learn some more idle bits of information about little old me?

  1. My working life started as a sewing machinist in a jeans factory - I then returned to school to be a hairdresser/air hostess and learned how to type as a back-up plan. I now earn a living as a Transcription/Audio Typist.
  2. I am a bit of a loner, and actually enjoy my own company - always have, even as a child.
  3. I usually wake up before 6am - even on the weekends.
  4. I tell myself not to, but I really do care what other people think.
  5. I have learned to never mix friends and large amounts of money - you will lose one or the other, and possibly both.
  6. I grind my teeth when peeling potatoes - how I HATE peeling potatoes.
  7. I really DISLIKE a messy craft/sewing area.

I usually find it so difficult to pass on these awards - the people I want to pass awards onto already seem to have them ;-)

so, I pass this on to everyone who reads my blog (yes, I know I am taking the easy way out ;-) )

and wish to thank Anorina, for thinking that my blog is good enough to single out and give an award to - thank you, thank you.

Mojo has returned

I was motivated to make up an Easter card for BIL & SIL - We will be spending Easter Monday with them.

I just love the LOTV images.

naked images (without kindyglitz)

flowers from Bizzy Becs.

copics used.

Circles were cut out with the CraftROBO, and sentiment printed using computer (Scriptina font) and cut out using spellbinders die on the cuttlebug.

I would like to submit these cards for the following challenges:
LOTV - Easter
All sorts - sketch
Creatalicious - pink, green, yellow, blue
Mad for Markers - BG, YR, RV copics

RIP - Elisabeth Sladen aka Sarah Jane Smith

I was very saddened to hear of Elisabeth Sladen's death.

I grew up with Doctor Who, and my favourite was Tom Baker.

There is a lovely article written about her HERE

Cards for friends

A very dear friend was in hospital for a while and I wanted to send him a get well card.

I was struggling to find a good get well card that was not too 'girly' and when sorting through some cards I had made in the past, I came across a heap of cards that had started to fall apart.

The double-sided tape I had used, had lost all of it's 'stick'.  On going through a few of my boxes of cards, I found an awful lot of cards that will need to be remade ;-(

There is a silver lining to this cloud - I got to change a few previously made cards and make them suitable for a new purpose.

It ended up being quite theraputic making up these cards again and putting some new finishing touches.

A card for his wife's birthday.

I am so pleased he will be home to help his wife celebrate her birthday.

Wedding Free Zone - Friday, 29 April 2011

At the risk of alienating some of my followers, I am declaring our household a wedding free zone on Friday, 29 April 2011

I blame the constant media for this.
I enjoyed watching Charles & Diana's wedding - I even stayed home with Mum and made a night of it ;-) and I was looking forward to William & Kate's wedding ............ until I was bombarded with it almost every time I turned on the TV or radio.

Channel 9 (in Australia) I knew you had lost the plot when you started messing with our regular shows - moving them without notice, playing episodes out of order, taking them off mid-season, bringing them back without notification, but you have really done it now!

Dame Edna Everage - providing commentary - SERIOUSLY??!!!!

Flashback Friday 10.0 - stitching

Flashback Friday is a blog I came across recently, thanks to Merry

The current challenge is to show your first card blogged about that includes stitching.

I sew a lot, but not usually on cards, and remembered I had blogged about a playdate I once had with some lovely CraftMad friends.

so here is my card

The original post is HERE and it gives some other details about the card and some other playdates I had.

I like the effect of stitching on cards, but I don't do it nearly as often as I should ;-)

Card for my Nephew

My nephew turned 15 last week - 15!   where did that time go ;-)

He is very much into music - both the modern music and creating his own music on the piano.

A sticker of a piano, placed on black cardstock, cut out and layered with foam dots.  CraftROBO was used to make the words and number 15.  I used the print and cut feature to make up a box to put some money in.  The box was a scale size of an iPod, but it only had money in it ;-)

CraftMAD swaps

For many years, I have been crafting with a lovely group of people over at CraftMAD mostly cardmaking, but more recently I have participated in the monthly sewing swaps.

In February the sewing swap was to send 2 Fat Quarters to our partner.

The March sewing swap was to make THIS bag and send to our partner.

This is what Mandy made for me ;-)
isn't it great - I love the sewing themed material

This is the one I made for Mandy, who loves blue and loves her cat, so I decided to use the 2 FQs I received from Wendy in the February swap for Mandy's bag.

the straight bag

the bag all scrunched up - doesn't it look great
It is a REALLY EASY pattern too!

It's in the post and Mandy should have it any day now.

It was a coincidence that I came across this same pattern at the time I bought my new Brother sewing machine in December 2010 and had every intention of making it up ;-)
So I figure it was meant to be when it was suggested for our sewing swap at CraftMAD.

Thank you Wendy for suggesting it, and for sending me the perfect material to make Mandy's bag.
