Update on Julie-Ann from Shirley Twigg

Shirley has just posted this message on Facebook

Well Julie has found her peace and passed away this morning, glad that she will be with beautiful Jacinda, so sad for Len on an already sad day xxx Thank you for all the prayers and love and light, I know we all helped make Julie's journey a little better and gave the family some peace during a sad sad time, I'm glad we kept the faith and hope, and I'm so thankful that Len had some time with the love of his life xxx

So sad, words don't seem to be enough - my thoughts are with the whole family and DUST community.

EDITED:   The DUST community banded together to raise funds for the Twigg Family by listing various items on ETSY.  To date DUST has collected $3,694.06.   I am so proud to be part of this wonderful Aussie Community.

Healing thoughts & prayers for Julie-Ann - UPDATED 22/8/11

I am a member of the DUST (Down Under Street Team) on ETSY - it is a group of Australian ETSY sellers that support and help promote each other.

I haven't been a member for long, but my communications with Julie-Ann have made me feel quite welcome and hopeful of my success in ETSY.

Unfortunately, Julie-Ann was involved in a plane crash where her daughter was killed along with the pilot.
Julie-Ann is now fighting for her life.

See news story HERE and updated story HERE

UPDATED: 22/8/11 via Shirley Twigg

Julie is speaking, which is a great start, she is having more surgery today hopefully, she isn't completely coherent for the moment with anesthetic and sedation xxx

I am not a religious person, but I do believe in the power of positive thoughts, so I have a small request to send some positive healing thoughts (and prayers too ;-) ) Julie-Ann's way.

There is a buzz in the air .....

the trees are buzzing ;-)

yep, all the blossoms have opened and there was a hive of activity around the trees that line our street - they usually are in full bloom in September, but seem to be a bit early this year ;-)

Happy Birthday Lynn!

I consider myself very lucky to still be friends with some of the people I went to primary school with - one of them being Lynn, a girl I used to do calisthenics with as well, has celebrated her 50th Birthday.

It is so great that we have been able to keep in touch - thanks to modern technology ;-)

So, here is the card I made for her.

The verse reads:

A Birthday Workout

Hike across green Ireland;
Bike the USA;
Backpack through New Zealand,
But don’t call it a day…

Do yoga in lovely Paris;
Jump rope in Katmandu;
Avoid Italian pasta,
(Well, maybe taste, but don’t you chew!)

Climb atop Mt. Everest;
Do aerobics on China’s Wall;
Lift weights on Mexican Beaches;
And honey, that’s not all…

Shake your booty with native dances
In Fiji and Bora Bora;
Move your body and exercise
Like you’ve never done befora.

Okay; that’s good; you’re finished;
Now you can take a break;
You’ve finally burned enough calories
To have your birthday cake!

Here we are at Lynn's birthday 1970 (we think!).....

and here we are 40 years later!

We had visitors ;-)

I went out to check the letterbox for mail on Friday and this is what greeted me on the driveway

Hubby was on a rare RDO (Rostered Day Off), so we grabbed our cameras and some bread and snapped away ;-)

there were two ducks on our front lawn!

here are some pics hubby took - much better camera and photographer than me ..... but I am learning ;-)

Thanks for the feed!  Bye!

CraftMad card swap for July

The CraftMad group have a regular monthly swap - for July my partner was Mandy

The July theme was to follow a tick-tac-toe rule and pick three things to put on your card

this is my 'goto' design for this set of stamps - each time I make it, it turns out slightly different - and ofcourse, since it was for Mandy, it had to be blue ;-)

I was going round and round my craft room seeking inspiration, and I spied the patterned paper!  I used a circle easel card shape.

Now for the results .....

You may have wondered what my previous post Testing, testing, 1 2 3, was about.

Well, I was testing a different way to insert photos, but I was also testing out a recipe for cupcakes with butter icing.

What am I doing posting a recipe on my cardmaking blog? I hear you ask ;-)

Well, it was my nephew's birthday and I offered to make cupcakes and of course, they had to match the theme of the party, which was Transformers ;-)

Easel card

2" cupcake toppers printed and cut out using CraftROBO

This is the professional cake

The whole table layout - lots of yummy goodness ;-)

UnstampaBelles Challenge #2 - August - Wheels

The second challenge for UnstampaBelles Challenge starts today.

Firstly, some housekeeping  ;-)

There are some Rule changes to take effect from Challenge Two, and they are:

No Stamps! This means no rubber stamps, no digital stamps, clipart or line art which includes pre-coloured versions. Inclusive of sentiment stamps.

Due to graphic technology any entry with a graphic image will be subject to the Design Teams' discretion and we will contact you if we feel the entry does not meet the ethos of our challenge blog.

As a bonus from this challenge onwards, we will be adding a technique challenge. This will not be a requirement for an entry but if you do use the nominated technique in your project, it will count as two entries for you.

This month's theme is Wheels, and our sponsor is Kelly, from Kel's Kaszazz Kaleidoscope .

August Challenge will close Friday, 2nd September and winner will be announced when Challenge #3 is posted, on Monday, 5th September 2011.

Now, for my DT entry

Expanding on from my quest to make 'non girly' male cards, I have been making a concerted effort to try and change my shopping habits.   Most of my DPs are floral, most my craft supplies tend to be on the pink/purple/lavender side and most of my other crafting goodies have a decided feminine style to them ;-)

I recently came across some new (well, new to me) 3D Decoupage sheets at a local craft show, where BlueEdge Crafts has a stall every year.

It is so nice to go to this craft show, as it is small, but lots of variety, and busy, but no so busy that you can't get to see all the craft wares.

So here is my card for the 'wheels' challenge.

Cardstock & DP from BlueEdge Crafts, 3D image sheet HERE
sentiment is a rub-on

Image layered with foam dots and placed on pearl cardstock, layered again on burgundy bazzil cardstock, then layered on DP, distressed along edges and placed on square black card.

Pop on over to the UnstampaBelles Challenge blog, and be inspired by the other DT entries.
