Off to a good start ...................

My first cards for the year :)

I wanted to make a card for my friend Joy's birthday, and I knew I wanted to use a Ladybird, and I was drawn to my Penny Black stamps that I have had for years, but never used - so all that was left was to find a layout ............ harder than you think!

I came across an excellent sketch on the Sweet Sunday Sketch blog - unfortunately, it is the last sketch for that blog :(  However, I think I will keep it bookmarked so that I can go back and use some of the other sketches :)

I used Sketch #300, but changed the proportions of the centre panel so it wouldn't take anything away from the Penny Black image :)

The Penny Black Saturday Challenge is anything goes, as long as you use a Penny Black image.

I was on a roll, the creative juices started flowing, and these cards came together in a few hours!  The hardest part was trawling through my DP to find something suitable for the background.

I decided to make two cards, one rectangle and one square.  I like them both, but think I will give the square one to my friend Joy :)

EDITED:  the pink rectangle card is available in my ETSY store :)  I guess it could be used for several purposes: birthday, hello, thinking of you, missing you, or simply just because :)

Time ....... where does it go?

It is rapidly approaching the end of yet another year - a year where my cardmaking mojo seemed to disappear :(

I will be working on improving my mojo next year - along with decluttering my workspace, with the hope that a better organised workspace will lead to a more enjoyable time cardmaking :)  well, that's the plan!

and just so that there is some eye candy, I share some of my fave cards I have made this year :)

where is the time going?

goodness, I can't believe how fast the time is flying this year!

It's Mr Fixit's birthday again - that came around so quickly

Here is what I came up with

I trawled the internet looking for ideas - and came across several that used the Periodic Table of Elements as the text - I thought that it was rather fitting for Mr Fixit.  The only trouble was that there was no 'A' by itself for Mr Fixit's name, there was 'Al' (aluminium), 'Ar' (argon), and 'Ag' (silver) but in the end, I went with 'Au' (gold)

on the inside, I used the element for Barium, as it's number is 56 :)  yep, Mr Fixit is 56!

must be off now, after having spent some time in my craft room, the sewing room awaits LOL
It's a hard life, isn't it?  :)

it's been a while .....

since I last posted a card - the cardmaking mojo has disappeared somewhat, and I have only been making a few cards, as and when they are needed.  Then, I have been forgetting to take a photo of the finished item before it is given, and that means no blogging about the cards either :(  not a happy camper!

But I have been a bit better organised in the photography department lately :)  I went on a weekend away with my camera club.  In fact, my friend and fellow camera club member, Joy picked me up and we shared a cabin together.  We went to Lake Bonney, South Australia and stayed in the Lake Bonney Caravan Park.  (see other photos from the weekend on my other blog HERE)

Anyway ......... back to the reason for this blog post :)  We shared accommodation, food & petrol costs, but I wanted to let her know that I appreciated her company (and her driving!) over the entire weekend.

Thinking of You ............

One of our long standing members of our camera club lost a member of their family last week, and as Secretary, I sent her a sympathy card from the club.

I have always wanted to try the heat emboss resist method, so I thought it was a good opportunity to try something new.

I just love how the spellbinder nestabilities dies make cutting perfect sized squares such a breeze!

AND I had the opportunity to try out my new toy and apply some Hot Fix Crystals

I would like to submit this card to the following challenges:

My Time to Craft - #291 Sympathy
Craft Stamper Magazine - May Challenge - Take a Stamp
Penny Black & More - Dies & Punches
