Happy Birthday Sharon

Another birthday, this time for Sister-in-Law Sharon - I had great plans for a specific type of card for this one.  I ordered some dies & stamps back in December, but as yet they haven't arrived - backlog of Christmas & Covid delays seem to have impacted my anticipated delivery date ........

I waited until after the postie delivered mail on Friday, to give my package every opportunity to arrive, but alas, it was not to be.

.... so, a 'Plan B' had to be implemented

I have a wide variety of stamps in rubber, clear and digital, but for this one, I chose the MFT Adorable Elephants clear set.

The As You Like It Challenge asks us to nominate which type of stamp we prefer - it is difficult to chose, but I guess clear polymer wins .... just (mostly for being able to see exactly where you are stamping).

For this card, I wanted something a little fun, so I stamped up one of elephants, coloured it in with watercolour pencils and cut it out by hand, then die cut a balloon from holographic/metallic cardstock.

I attached the balloon with some wire stems cut-off from paper flowers, then affixed the elephant with a handmade wobble!  Strategically placed some glitter .... and voila!

I hope the video works of the card wobbling, I've never done one before LOL - isn't modern technology wonderful!  LOL

Linking card with the following challenges:
2 Crafty Critter Crazies: february-challenge
As You Like it Challenge:  what do you prefer?
Shopping Our Stash:  its all about family
Happy Little Stampers:  anything goes with dies

We had cake & coffee on Sunday at Sharon's place - it was so nice to be able to get together again - we hadn't seen any of the family since Christmas Eve.

Even though we are in a wonderful position with Covid-19 here in South Australia, we are still social distancing and sanitizing like crazy whenever we are out (which is not very often).  Mr Fixit likes staying at home, but I get a bit of cabin fever every now and then, and just need to get out and about with my camera ...... I find it soothes the soul.

Here is a photo I took in October in Robe, South Australia - I think it is time to get out and about for a few days again real soon!

Cheers for now, hope you have a great day!

  3. Very nice CAS card! Your video works perfectly! I love rubber stamps because they generally give a cleaner image, particularly now that we have our stamping platforms. But the clear stamps do have their advantages. Thanks for sharing your project with us at Shopping Our Stash!

  6. Your moon shot is stunning, Cathy, and your ellie card is just adorable! I love how you added the wobble (great video!) and the metallic stars and sequins for lots of shine! I have a bunch of those stars in various sizes, so thank you for the inspiration! Thank you, too, for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell

  7. This elephant is too cute and I love how you used the holographic paper for the balloon, making a mental note for myself for later. :-) I'm so with you and the cabin fever, my husband can spend all day at home forever. I really do need to get out and do a walk from time to time. Great photo.
