UnstampaBelles #15 - Embossing

Challenge #15 for UnstampaBelles starts today.

The theme this month is 'Embossing' and we are sponsored by the Sticker Store - my go to online Store for stickers.

Prize for Challenge #15
Stickerstore

All entries are subject to the Design Teams' discretion.

However, we have made a slight change to the rules.

Our biggest challenge has been sentiments. When we first started we allowed them to be added and to be stamped but found that stamped sentiments were becoming a focal point. Not something we wanted to encourage at Unstampabelles which is all about paper manipulation. So then we changed the rules to no stamps at all rubber or digital.  However, we have been finding it hard to determine if a sentiment has been stamped or not.  This rule also has disqualified a lot of wonderful paper creations that happen to have one or two words on them.

So the rule has been changed to:

Sentiments - are restricted to the use of, at most, four (4) words only.  The sentiment is not to be the focal point of your creation.  We applaud the use of rub-on's, stickers, punched/diecut letters or handwriting.  Stamps may be used but not encouraged.

Any form of paper creation will be accepted as long as NO STAMPS (Digital or Rubber) have been used.

You can find our rules here for further information.

This challenge closes Friday, 28th September 2012 and Winners will be announced Monday, 1st October 2012 - Remember we are working on Aussie Time.

Due to graphic technology any entry with a graphic image will be subject to the Design Teams' discretion and we will contact you if we feel the entry does not meet the ethos of our challenge blog.

Now for my DT entry.

Continuing on in my venture to get some order and routine in my life, I have been sorting my craft room with the intention of using up old supplies.  I came across instructions for card I made in a class, and thought it was absolutely perfect for this months challenge.

These cards have been made using the Happy Birthday embossing folder in the Cuttlebug, layered onto cardstock and highlighted with a ribbon.  A very simple layout, but when using different colours of cardstock, ribbons and flowers, a different look is achieved each time.

pearl paper embossed and gold ink 'brushed' over some raised bits, highlighted with a ribbon and bow, matted on darker cardstock, then matted onto card.

here is the same layout, but with no gold brushing, and only one layer of cardstock - clean and simple.

You may remember this card I made for the Challenge #12 - ribbons - by using a very simple embossed folder and a fancy ribbon, the ribbon becomes the feature of the card ;-)

Please visit the UnstampaBelles blog and see last month's entries and check out the winner.

There are some amazing entries and I know I say it every month, but it really is getting more difficult for the DT to pick a favourite - August saw a whopping 89 entries!

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.

Remember, any day doing something you love makes it a good day ;-)

Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness.

  1. Wonderful post Cathy, sorry I don't have a photo yet for the 'insert photo here' section. :-) Love your cards, amazing what that extra swipe of gold ink does.
