Magnolia Challenges

Over on Just_Magnolia there is a sketch challenge, and on Magnolia_Down_Under there is a colour challenge (brown, blue & cream/white) - a match made in heaven as far as I am concerned!
here is the sketch
so here is my card - I made the centre panel an oval instead of a circle because I did not use a square card. I will most probably use this sketch again, but this time use a square card the way it was intended.
SU Choc Chip cardstock was used as a base, patterned paper used as background, cream & white paper flowers highlighted with bling, oval nesties used with cuttlebug for front panel. Tilda image watercoloured and highlighted with chalks & kindy glitz.

Wasn't too sure on what type of card this could be, so it became a 'just because' card - I think it would suit any purpose.

Stamp Something Challenge - black and white

Last week's Stamp_Something challenge was to use black & white and one other colour. I know I am a bit late with this one, but I figured I would post anyway. I am pleased with the way it turned out.
White cardstock was stamped multiple times with candle stamp, coloured in red with watercolours and flames highlighted with kindy glitz. Black & red ribbon placed across top third of card and Stamped sentiment mounted with foam dots.
here is another card I did later, just with black & white - does the kindy glitz count as another colour? ;-)
I like the clean look of this card.

ABC Challenge - T (two tone)

For the current abc_challenge they would like to see you using just 2 colours on your card
I love the combination of blue & yellow - so here is my card.
Cuttlebug was used to emboss & cut SU Brilliant Blue?? and YoYo yellow. Image was stamped on white and coloured in with watercolours (blue & yellow) and highlighted with kindy glitz.
Central image was mounted using foam dots.

I even did the inside of the card!

A big thank you to Linda for letting me have a play with her SU cupcake stamps

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge #35 - masculine card

I was impressed with the golf stickers that I had used in another challenge, that I went on to make another card with some of the offcut cardstock & papers for the CuttlebugSpot_Challenge.
Spellbinder dies were used in the cuttlebug to cut the rectangles. Each rectangle highlighted with border stickers, and gold golf buggy used as an alternative to stamping an image. Cardstock used was Bazzil Bling and DP.
I get the majority of my stickers from BlueEdge Crafts - golf ones are here .

Cuttlebug Be Inspired 36 - Father's Day

A new cuttlebug challenge is up CBI36 with a theme of Father's Day. Being in Australia, our Father's Day is not celebrated until September, so it is nice to get an early start!
Black leathergrain card has been layered with DP, bazzil bling cardstock. Cuttlebug has been used to cut rectangles & squares and to emboss the 'golf ball'.
Gold stickers used to highlight rectangle and to add sentiment. Golf buggy sticker placed on handmade paper and acetate and mounted with 3D foam.

I get the majority of my stickers from BlueEdge Crafts - golf ones are here .

Flower Pot Card

I have seen these types of cards popping up everywhere - I just had to try one out.
I used the template from here and just sort of messed around with arranging the flowers to suit.
double sided kaiser paper was used and cut out various flowers - highlighted with kindy glitz and bling. Pink ribbon finishes off pot and holds it all together!
I am quite pleased with how my experiment turned out - I am going to make up another one taking a bit more care when cutting out the flowers.

Card for my Dad

it's my Dad's birthday, and we are off out to lunch at the Bartley Tavern, West Lakes. I met my husband there many years ago when it was known as The Legtrap Hotel - I am looking forward to going back!
I have made a card for my Dad - this is about the fourth attempt - got a bit of creative block with this one - I would start a card, then it would turn out too girly and I would get up and walk away. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute for motivation!
SU choc chip was used as a base card and SU Cupcake wheel run across three times and heat embossed with gold.
Rub-on sentiment was placed on a tag, made with spellbinders in the Cuttlebug, ribbon was threaded through and attached.
I even did the back of the card!

Another Challenge Card - 4 challenges

I had so much fun making the last challenge card fit 4 challenges, I just had to do it again.
I must confess, I am not too sure on the end result, but here goes LOL
The four challenges are Cuttlebug Spot 33, Roses on Paper 13, Cute Daisy May and Our Creative Corner.
Over on CuttlebugSpot this weeks challenge is to colour in a stamp. You will find that some members of the DT have colored the Magnolia Tilda stamps. I am quite taken with these stamps, but the challenge does not require you to color Tilda, but if you have these stamps, it would be awesome to see your creations. Your stamped image can be colored with any medium of your choice.
This week's challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. The project selected will receive a $20.00 gift certificate to the store. If you have never visited Simon Says Stamp, you really should take a peek. They offer a great variety of stamps, inks, copics, embellishments, and other tools for your creative needs.
The Roses on Paper challenge is a colour challenge (Pink, Yellow & Green), and must include a Magnolia image - ROP13 - I have never used this colour combination before, so it was a real challenge for me! The prize for this challenge is the Greeting Farm's Fairy Eva stamp!
The Cute_Daisy_May challenge is to emboss it! I can do that - I love my cuttlebug!
The layout came from the Our Creative Corner sketch challenge OCC_Sketch
SU old olive was used as a base card, SU summer sun embossed with cuttlebug using the swiss dots & happy birthday folders, Regal Rose oval panel cut using cuttlebug & spellbinder scalloped oval die. SU wheel Baroque border used to take away the blankness away from base card. Pink bling and Kindy Glitz used to highlight.
Magnolia image hand coloured with watercolour pencils and highlighted with chalks & kindy glitz.
Not too sure about my chosen colour combination, but will definitely use this layout again.

Bon Voyage Card

I caught up with an old school friend last weekend and she is about to leave Australia and travel for a while - ending up in London in August. Oh how I envy her!
I have made this Bon Voyage Card for her.

hand stamped & hand torn background paper on the left of the card, patterned paper mounted onto black card. Brown Tag mounted with sticky dots, layered with 'Bon Voyage' printed on cream card using computer. Tag & corners highlighted with corner stickers.
