Happy Birthday & Happy Anniversary

Time for Family birthdays again!

I was happy to find a little more cardmaking mojo after my previous card for Mandy, and tried a little experiment for the sister-in-law Rosa's birthday card.

I played with some Digital graphics from Creative Market  in Photoshop, added text and printed on linen cardstock.  Highlighted features with Kindy Glitz - quite happy with my result!

Then for brother-in-law Greg's birthday card, I returned to rubber stamping - stamping 3 candles from Kaisercraft birthday set multiple times, coloring in with sharpies and highlighting with Kindy Glitz, sentiment is black peel off stickers.

Then we come to their wedding anniversary - they got married on Rosa's birthday, so Greg has no excuse to forget LOL

I stuck with some simple stamping with Stampin' Up Little Bit of Happiness - Love stamp, stamped using Chocolate Chip - my all time fave Stampin' Up ink.  Sadly my little ink pads are starting to dry out and I am hoping to find some refills around the traps.  I used to think Stampin' Up stuff was expensive, but I have found them to be great quality stamps and the ink pads I have been using since 2008!  So I believe, if you look after them, they are great value for money!

All cardstock from Blue Edge Crafts.

Happy Birthday Mandy!

My friend Mandy, celebrated her 60th birthday recently.

A small group of us, myself, Cynthia from Cynthia's Ark, Beth from Huggies Crafts and Mandy from Blue Edge Crafts met up for a lunch at The Topiary Cafe.  The Topiary has been on my 'to do' list for quite some time.

the food was lovely, if a little pricey for me, but then I don't dine out very often, apart from a pub meals, so I am always surprised at the cost of meals & drinks at a restaurant!

Here is the card I made for Mandy - using a stamp/embossing set that came with
the Australian Papercraft Essentials magazine.

and here is what I made Mandy for her birthday.  I recently did a class for this 'Tree of Life' at Need4Bead - and I can tell you I really enjoyed myself.  Below is what I made in class - you can see my tree has a bit of storm damage LOL

and this is Jelly Bean, who kept us company for a little while :)

Jumping on the Foiling Bandwagon

I have been interested in trying foiling ever since I started stamping many years ago, but the cost was just too prohibitive.

I have recently become aware that you can foil using your laser printer and a household laminator - since I have both of these items, I just had to give it a try!

1st attempt was a total failure - I don't think the laminator was hot enough.

2nd attempt - was still not good, so I tried using an iron LOL

3rd attempt - running it through twice - still not a very good result - it was still 'bitty'
so some internet searching happend

Finally got some great results (even though the photo does not show it very well)

So I made up some cards using some graphics from Creative Market

Thank you card

Heartfelt Sympathy

Sadly, I was in need of another sympathy card, this time for another member of my camera club who was also the previous President, Allan, who unexpectedly lost his Father.

This beautiful shimmer cardstock was from Blue Edge Crafts, the two step stamps from Stampin' Up (Heartfelt Thanks) - stamped with green ink, then gold embossed.

I wanted to keep it simple, as it was for a male but I also wanted to be a little creative as his mother is a cardmaker too, and I felt she would appreciate the handmade touch.

It is approaching time to replace my Stampin' Up inks - they have only lasted 10 years!  So it just goes to show ..... you buy the best you can afford, store them correctly and they will reward you with years of service! ;)

Get Well Soon

Not much crafting going on in the craft room :(

However, I did make a 'Get Well' card for one of members in my camera club.  He had been in a terrible car accident, but was definitely on the road to recovery!

His presence is missed at the club, but we hope to see him back real soon!

Image is from Meljens Designs, a digital freebie I have had for ages, cardstock is from Blue Edge Crafts and I have used foil, with double-sided tape for the stripes (also from Blue Edge Crafts).

With Sympathy

My friend Mandy lost her Mum - quite unexpectedly - last week.

With her Mum being in UK, and Mandy being here in Australia, it makes things just that little bit more difficult to deal with.

Mandy is the owner of Blue Edge Crafts, my go to craft supplies store, so of course, I had to make a card with items from her store :)

Mandy's favourite colour is blue - the card is blue (it looks a bit purple here, but it is blue) ;)

Congratulations, Laurel & Roger

My very dear friend from way back in my teenage years has become engaged to a lovely lady, named Laurel.

Here is the card I made for them.

The inside image is a lovely digital stamp from Mo Manning - I thought it suited the verse beautifully!

Happy Birthday Joy!

It was my friend Joy's birthday during last week and we arranged to go out for tea on Friday night.

Locals (South Aussies) will know that Friday, was a pretty hot day with a top temperature of  38.7C - that was just so very hot!!!.  Unfortunately, Mr Fixit does not do well in the heat, neither does Mrs Fixit if I am honest, so we begged off driving 45 mins in the heat, and arranged to get together another time.

Anyway, I was all prepared with birthday card and present, but Joy will have to wait until I next see her for her goodies :)
